We are a collaborative of over 30 North Carolina-based organizations that want to get people outside and involved in authentic scientific research across our state. By participating in our quarterly events, you help scientists in North Carolina and beyond with their critical work as you learn about the natural world all around you. You can even earn badges as you collect and submit scientific data from your local area!

What’s Next?
Our next event is the Great Backyard Bird Count! The 2023 Great Backyard Bird Count takes places February 17-20. Learn more about how to participate, how to earn your badge, where you can find programs near you, and other resources on our North Carolina Bird count page.
Our Events
Our collaborative strives to get people outside, experiencing nature and contributing to authentic science through multi-day events. Most of our events are tied to large, international events and each has a different theme and process.
We have four events scheduled in 2023:
NC Bird Count | NC Bioblitz | NC Moth Week | NC Spider Search |
February 17-20 | April 28 – May 1 | July 22-30 | Fall – dates TBD |
